This is my new favourite sick day food. I used to think apples would make you feel better because of the phrase "an apple a day keeps the doctor away". It's great for any day though!
You'll need:
2 slices of bread
Old cheddar cheese
1 apple (you won't need all of it) should be crisp. I chose a crisp macintosh, but I think granny smith would work too.
Butter or margarine
Step 1:
Butter one side of each slice of bread
2:
cut slices of cheese, enough to cover half of the bread horizontally AND vertically.
also cut 3 slices of the apple (about half a centimeter thick) and then cut them into strips/triangles/whatever shape. I wouldn't recommend leaving the slices as full circles. I prefer the apple peeled.
3:
place one of your bread slices butter side down on a hot pan. put one layer of your cheese vertically, speaced apart. then scatter your apple pieces over that layer of cheese. finally layer your horizontal slices of cheese over that, also spaced out.
4:
put the other piece of bread on top, butter side up. Flip it every once and a while until the cheese is melted. Keep the stove heat at medium.
Enjoy!
